Housing Sales Projected to Remain Steady Through 2025
According to Fannie Mae’s August 2025 Economic and Housing Outlook, the total home sales for 2025 is projected to remain relatively steady comparing this month’s outlook of 4.74 million housing units with last month’s 4.85 million units. Existing home sales are projected to total 4.09 million units, almost identical to last year’s 4.06 million existing homes sold. Average mortgage rates are expected to drop to 6.5% by the end of 2025 and down to 6.1% at the end of 2026.
