Wood-Framed Home Share Increased in 2024
The share of homes constructed from wood-based framing increased in 2024 to account for 94% of all single-family homes completed. The overwhelming majority paints it as the most popular construction by far, followed only by 5% of homes being concrete-framed constructions and less than half of a percent consisting of steel-framed homes. While wood has typically been the leading favorite in 2023 as well with 93% of all homes being wood-framed compared to 2024’s 94%, the South has recently seen a growth in non-wood based framing where nearly 95% of all steel-framed homes were constructed and concrete-framed homes made up 9% of all 2024 single-family constructions.
