Mortgage Activity Declines in October as Mortgage Rates Increase

The Mortgage Bankers Association reports a decrease of 13.9% in mortgage loan application volume for the month of October. Whether purchasing or refinancing, fewer people applied for mortgage loans last month owing to mortgage rate increases. At the same time, compared to October 2023, the current Market Composite Index is up by 39%.
