10 homes on the AIA Austin tour make bold design look natural
The 39th annual AIA Austin Homes Tour returns this fall, offering the public a rare chance to explore some of the city’s most innovative residential designs. Scheduled for October 25–26, the self-guided tour will feature 10 distinctive homes, complemented by three architect-led webinars beginning October 1. The webinars, covering themes like architects’ personal homes, indoor-outdoor living and neighborhood context, provide additional context for attendees, with the added benefit of continuing education credits for professionals. Tickets for the event range from $50 to $125, with details available through AIA Austin.
This year’s featured homes showcase a wide variety of styles, from historic renovations to contemporary builds that blur the line between indoor and outdoor living. Highlights include the glassy, nature-immersed Casa Colibri, the sustainably designed Stealth House and the cozy Travis Heights Residence built around a live oak tree. Other standouts range from modernized historic estates to sleek, award-winning designs emphasizing sustainability and natural light. Collectively, the tour demonstrates Austin’s architectural diversity, balancing preservation with innovation while offering design inspiration for homeowners and professionals alike.
