The housing market has held very steady in the southeast, specifically in Atlanta, Georgia according to Bankrate. Housing is more affordable in this area, which is attracting a lot of homeowners from more expensive cities in the U.S. But, Atlanta is not leading the housing market, Gainesville, Georgia is currently. About 50 miles northeast of Atlanta Gainesville appreciated 21.1% this year, which is lower than the national average. 

Overall, the housing market has shifted, putting the southeast at its forefront. Thus, attracting people from all over the U.S. in hopes of purchasing an affordable home. 

According to WSB-TV, the hottest housing market in the U.S. is in metro Atlanta, according to Bankrate’s new Housing Heat Index. While home values are declining in many parts of the U.S., they’ve held steady in the Southeast, according to Bankrate. More affordable house is attracting buyers from more expensive parts of the country. Bankrate analyzed 212 metro areas examining several factors including appreciation of home values, homes listed for sale and population trends. The number 1 housing market in the country?
